April 14, 2012: Saturday, the UCF Wind Ensemble Concert directed by Scott Tobias will give the Florida premiere of Dare to Hope, a work commissioned by the Alexandria Band to honour Robert Petrella. The performance will take place at 7:00pm in the Visual Arts Building Auditorium on the UCF campus.
March 24 , 2012: Mick Dowrick will direct the Nelson Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Hikurangi Sunrise. Details to follow.
Green blob February 28: At 8:15 pm Ford Hall, the Ithaca College Symphonic Band directed by Elizabeth Peterson will perform An Emily Dickinson Suite. This work was commissioned in 2009 by Amherst Regional High School and Brian Messier.
February 25 and 26, 2012: At 7:30pm in First Unitarian Church, Eliot Chapel 1011 SW 12th Ave. Portland, OR, David de Lyser will direct the Choral Arts Ensemble in a performance of I Hold Your Hand In Mine as part of a programme titles "The Peaceable Kingdom: Depictions of Love and Peace by 20th Century American Choral Composers".
February 10, 2012: Friday, at the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Convention, Mark Rohwer will direct the Flower Mound High School Choir in a performance of Faleula E! from Songs of Samoa. More details to follow!
January 28, 2012: Saturday, in the third concert of the COLLIDE Festival, Thad Anderson will direct the Knight Winds and Marimba ensemble in a performance of Birds Of A Feather. This work was commissioned by Prof. Anderson along with Prof. Noralee García-Velázquez Garcia, and Prof. George Weremchuk. The performance will take place at 8:00pm in the Rehearsal Hall Auditorium.
January 26, 2012: at 1.00pm at the 2012 United States Army Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Brucker Hall in Fort Myer, Virginia, featured artists SYMBIOSISDUO (Gail Robertson on Euphonium and Stacy Baker on Tuba) will perform Greenwood Reflection, a work they commissioned in 2011.
January 21, 2012: Saturday, the UCF Music Faculty Recital will see the premieres of two works: O What Is That Sound? performed by Jeremy Hunt, Noralee-García-Velásquez, Thad Anderson and Jeffrey Moore, and of a new saxophone and clarinet version of Eola Stroll from Orlando Lakes (originally commissioned by SymbiosisDuo) performed by George Weremchuk and Keith Koons at 8:00pm in the Visual Arts Building Auditorium on the UCF campus.
January 20-21, 2012: at the University of Southern Mississippi, featured artists SYMBIOSISDUO (Gail Robertson on Euphonium and Stacy Baker on Tuba) will give the world premiere of Greenwood Reflection. More details to follow!

October 2011: In the preliminary Grammy nominations, O Fragile Human has been nominated in the Best Contemporary Classical Composition category!! And the Woodley Ensemble's CD, O Fragile Human is nominated in the Best Choral Performance category.
October 9, 2011: At 3:00pm in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Auckland, New Zealand, Terence Maskell directed The Graduate Choir, NZ in the premiere of Lotà Nu'u, a work commissioned by the choir to mark its 10th anniversary. The performance was greeted with a long standing ovation from the capacity audience.

October 1, 2011: Saturday at 8:00pm at St Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin, New Zealand, The Southern Consort of Voices, together with the Southern Youth Choir directed by Daniel Kelly performed Walking On My Feet from To The Horizon.

September 30, 2011: Friday, 7:30pm in a programme entitled 'Sing Around the World', at the Speirs Centre, Palmerston North Boys High School, NZ, the Manawatu Community Choir directed by Jennifer Moss sang some of the Songs of Samoa to a great reception from the huge audience.
September 16, 2011:Friday, 8:oopm in Ingram Hall at the Blair School of Music on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee, Erin Perez will lead the Vanderbilt Wind Ensemble in a performance of Okaoka, a work commissioned by Jim Cochran.
August 13, 2011: At the National Flute Association's Annual Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina the Knight Winds (a flute and saxophone ensemble) directed by Nora Lee García-Velásquez performed two movements from Alafaya Suite, a work jointly commissioned by Dr. García-Velásquez and Dr. George Weremchuk. This work - and indeed the whole programme received a most enthusiastic response from the large audience - a prolonged standing ovation at the end of the recital!

August 7, 2011: Sunday at 2:00pm at Knox Church, Dunedin, New Zealand, The Southern Consort of Voices, directed by Daniel Kelly performed Walking On My Feet from To The Horizon.

August 7, 2011: Sunday, 5:00pm in the Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber as part of a programme entitled 'Murder They Wrote', Viva Voce directed by John Rosser performed I Hold Your Hand In Mine - my arrangement of the Tom Lehrer song the choir commissioned nearly 20 years ago was greeted with much (suppressed) hilarity by the large audience.
August 5, 2011: At 1:00pm in the main conference venue for the World Choral Symposium in Puerto Madryn in Argentina, Voices New Zealand performed songs from Songs of Samoa. Their performance received a standing ovation.
July 9, 2011: 8:00pm in St Barnabas Church, Mt Eden, in Auckland NZ, the Auckland Welsh Choir, directed by Diana Rhodes assisted by Stephen Rapana gave an enthusiastically received performance of Cançó del Mar, their third performance of a work they premiered last November.

July 3, 2011: Sunday at 2:00pm at St Hilda's Chapel, Dunedin, New Zealand, The Southern Consort of Voices, directed by Daniel Kelly performed Walking On My Feet from To The Horizon. "Walking On My Feet was the final number, and it went down a treat." (Daniel Kelly)

June 20, 2011: At 7:30pm at the 2011 International Euphonium Institute at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, featured artists SYMBIOSISDUO (Gail Robertson on Euphonium and Stacy Baker on Tuba) will give the premiere of Greenwood Reflection, a work they commissioned in 2011. [Performance postponed owing to family illness]

June 11, 2011: At 11:30 am as a part of the Annual Chorus America Conference, San Francisco Choral Artists directed by Magen Solomon performed This Big Moroccan Sea commissioned by the choir. This was part of the choir's presentation "A Different Gold Rush: Exploring the Not-So-Buried Treasure of Bay Area Composers", one of the best attended and most positively received sessions of the conference.
June 6, 2011: At 3:00pm on Monday (Queen's Birthday) Radio New Zealand broadcast the BBC documentary Smash Hit of 1453 about the history of the L'homme armé theme. As well as 'masses of masses' the programme featured interviews with three contemporary composers who have used this theme: Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Karl Jenkins and myself. Excerpts of my L'homme armé: Variations were included. A great response from many listeners.

April 20, 2011: At 8:00pm in the UCF Rehearsal the Knight Winds along with marimba sextet and double bass, directed by Noralee Garcia gave the world premiere of Birds Of A Feather.This work was commissioned by Prof. Garcia, along with Prof. George Weremchuk and Prof. Thaddeus Anderson.
April 11, 2011: At 9:00pm in the Rehearsal Hall Logan Peavey on baritone saxophone of the University of Central Florida gave Could've, Should've, Would've a most successful world premiere.This work was commissioned by Ted and Robin Diamond for their son Spencer.
March 23, 2011: At 7:00pm in Buckley recital hall at Amherst College, Amherst Massachusetts, members of the University of Massachusetts Wind Ensemble gave a most successful world premiere of Light, a work commissioned by the ensemble's director, James Miller and dedicated to Brian Messier who directed this performance.
February 26: At 7:00pm in St. Luke's Church, Oviedo, Michael Garasi directed the UCF Wind Ensemble in a masterly and most warmly received performance of Rondorlando.
February 25: At Florida Gulf Coast University Guest Recital enhake gave a very fine performance of Three Aspects Of Spring to a most appreciative audience.
February 13: At 7:00pm in the Visual Arts Auditorium at the University of Central Florida, Michael Garasi directed performers from the UCF Wind Ensemble in the world premiere of Heat Shimmer and a performance of Rondorlando as part of the Central Florida Festival of Contemporary Music. Both were warmly received. Rondorlandowas commissioned in 2007 by a consortium assembled by Dr. Richard Greenwood. His group, The Orlando Concert Band gave the premiere in January 2008.
February 12: At 7:00pm in St. Luke's Church, Oviedo, FL, Laszlo Marosi directed the UCF Symphony Orchestra in a most moving world premiere of Te Rerenga as part of the Central Florida Festival of Contemporary Music. Prior to the concert Dr. Marosi interviewed me on this piece and my views on contemporary music.
January 29: At 2:00 p.m. as part as part of the University of Southern Florida Marimba Festival, Thad Anderson directed two movements of the marimba and saxophone version of Alafaya Suite, and Nora Lee Garcia two movements of the original work she jointly commissioned with George Weremchuk. A very fine joint performance and a great reception.
January 21: At 4:00pm as part of the COLLIDE workshop at the university of Central Florida Thad Anderson directed the premiere of a new version of Alafaya Suite for saxophones and marimbas, the arrangement commissioned by Dr. Anderson. A positive response from all in attendance.

November 27 and 28: 8:00pm in All Saints Churches in Howick and Devonport respectively, in Auckland NZ, the Auckland Welsh Choir, directed by Diana Rhodes gave an enthusiastic and warmly received world premiere of Cançó del Mar.
November 20: A concert to celebrate the inauguration of the new Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Central Florida will see the world premiere of Forténovem performed by an ensemble of ten trumpets directed by John Almeida who commissioned this work [this performance was recheduled for a later occasion].
November 18th: At midday in St. Luke's Cathedral, Orlando the Knight Winds (a flute and saxophone ensemble) directed by Nora Lee Garcia performed Alafaya Suite, a work jointly commissioned by Dr. Garcia and George Weremchuk.
November 17: At 8:00pm in Hodgson Hall at the University of Georgia the UGA Wind Ensemble directed by international conductor Timothy Reynish performed L'homme armé: Variations to a most enthusiatic response.
November 12: In the Cathedral of Oulu in Finland, Jaakko Nurila will direct the Pohja Military Band and Male Choir in a performance of Pastorale. Henna-Mari Sivula is the soprano soloist. This will be the world premiere of the new version revised and reorchestrated for the Pohjan Military Band and Mr. Juha Pisto. [Performane rescheduled owing to most unprofessional actions by the soprano soloist.]
October 30 and 31: In West Chester, PA, at 7:30 and 2:00pm respectively, Kate Mikijanic directed the Masterworks Choir in a performance of I Hold Your Hand In Mine to suitably shocked and amused audiences!
October 24: In Holley Hall, Sarasota at 4:00pm, Joseph Holt directed Musica Gloriae in a performance of I Hold Your Hand In Mine - I have no idea how this performance went as the conductor did not bother to let me know.
October 19: At 8:00pm in the concert hall of Seminole Community College, Orlando the Knight Winds (a flute and saxophone ensemble) directed by Nora Lee Garcia performed Alafaya Suite, a work jointly commissioned by Dr. Garcia and George Weremchuk. Great reception!
July 5 2010: At 9:00am and 2:00pm in the Cathedral of St. Matthew in Washington DC the Woodley Ensemble directed by Frank Albinder performed A Voice From Heaven from O Fragile Human as part of the American Guild of Organists 2010 National Convention. Both performances were well received, the second earning a standing ovation.
July 2: Friday at 7:30pm - in St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Holborn, London, Paul Ayres conducted the City Chorus in a performance of Pusi Nofo from Songs of Samoa to a great reception.
June 24: In Christchurch NZ, clarinettist Philip Green, violinist Anne Loeser and pianist Rachel Thomson, members of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra gave the New Zealand premiere of Three Aspects of Spring alongside works of Milhaud and Khatchaturian. It was 'received with enthusiasm' (Phil Green).
June 20: Sunday 20 at 5pm - in St Peter's Ealing, London W5 Paul Ayres conducted the Walbrook Singers in a performance of Pusi Nofo from Songs of Samoa as part of a programme entitled All Creatures Great And Small.
June 13: Sunday, 4pm in San Francisco; June 19: Saturday, 8pm in Palo Alto; June 20: Sunday, 4pm in Oakland San Francisco Choral Artists directed by Magen Solomon gave warmly received world premiere performances of Emily's Songs commissioned by the Association for Music In International Schools in an arrangement for the SFCA.

April 15: At 12:10 in the whare wananga in the Auckland Central Library, New Zealand, soprano Susan Elliot with David Kelly on piano performed three songs from Flights of Fancy.
April 10: Tuesday at 3;30 pm on BBC R4 in the UK a programme called Smash Hit of 1453 received its first broadcast. This programme deals with the history of the L'homme armé theme as used by composers from the 14th to 21st centuries. Interviews feature Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, myself and Karl Jenkins, and excerpts from L'homme armé: Variations.

February 21: At Dartmouth College, New Hampsire alongside works by Karel Husa, David Del Tredici and Ron Nelson L'homme armé: Variations received a powerful performance by the Dartmouth Wind Symphony under its director, Matthew Marsit in Spaulding Auditorium of the Hopkins Center "Blazing, brilliant, hugely varied, and moving.... definitely the star of the program." Timothy Price. This was preceded by a discussion focussed on the theme "In Our Time: Struggle, Courage and Hope".
February 18: At 12.00 noon, in St. Luke's Episcopal Cathedral in Orlando, The Knight Winds (a flute, saxophone and clarinet ensemble) gave a glowing account of the Alafaya Suite, a work jointly commissioned by Nora Lee Garcia and George Weremchuk.

January 30: At the Florida Flute Association's Florida Flute Fair, at 10:30 in the Capri Room of the Orlando Airport Marriot Hotel the Knight Winds, directed by Nora Lee Garcia will give the world premiere of the entire Alafaya Suite, a work jointly commissioned by Nora Lee Garcia and George Weremchuk.
January 10: At 7.30pm in Benoit Glazer's "White House" in Orlando, the Knight Winds ensemble directed by Nora Lee Garcia performed three movements of the Alafaya Suite to a very warm reception.
January 7: At 9:30 in the Tampa Convention Center, second floor stage area, the Knight Winds ensemble performed three movements of the Alafaya Suite, as part of the Florida Music Educators Annual State 2010 Conference. December 5: Saturday, 8pm in Palo Alto, December 12: Saturday, 8pm in San Francisco, December 13: Sunday, 4pm in Oakland, San Francisco Choral Artists directed by Magen Solomon gave the world premiere performances of Golden Carol specially commissioned by the choir. "It went really well this weekend! We got lots of compliments on it", Magen Solomon.
December: Aue!, performed by the University North Texas Wind Orchestra under the direction of Eugene Corporon will be released on the GIA label as part of the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. The piece was included in Volume 7 of the series and will be released at the Mid-West Conference in Chicago this year.
November 29: Sunday, 1pm in St. Paul's Cathedral, Wellington New Zealand, the Cathedral choir under the leadership of Michael Fulcher gave a 'wonderful, moving' Wellington premiere of The Desert Shall Blossom, a work commissioned in 1992 by St. Peter's Cathedral in Hamilton.
November 15: At 3:00 pm at the Fisher Auditorium on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus in Indiana, PA, the IUP Wind Ensemble directed by Jack Stamp gave a creditable performance of An Emily Dickinson Suite. This work was commissioned by Amherst Regional High School and Brian Messier.
November 12: At 12.00 noon, in St. Luke's Episcopal Cathedral in Orlando, UCF Flute choir and UCF Saxophone Quartet will together perform two movements of the Alafaya Suite, a work jointly commissioned by Nora Lee Garcia and George Weremchuk.
October 31 & November 1: Saturday and Sunday at 5.30pm both days, in the Centennial Theatre, Auckland Grammar School, Epsom, in Auckland New Zealand, GALS, the Gay and Lesbian Singers of Auckland will perform Faleula E! from Songs of Samoa.

July 25, 2009: On Saturday at 3pm in the Adrian Boult Hall of the Birmingham Conservatoire, as part of the International Double Reed Society Conference, members of the Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Ensemble directed by Guy Woolfenden gave the warmly received European premiere of Raptures a work commissioned by UCF as a tribute to Prof. Woolfenden.
June 6, 2009: Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the packed Terrace Theatre of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, the Washington Men's Camerata directed by Frank Albinder gave Alas, For Those Who Never Sing a very successful world premiere. This work was commissioned by the Camerata and is dedicated to Frank Albinder.
June 1: On Monday at 7:30pm, in Amherst College's Buckley Recital Hall (Amherst MA), the Amherst Regional High School Wind Ensemble under director Brian Messier gave An Emily Dickinson Suite a very fine world premiere. The long standing-ovation was among the warmest reactions to my music I have ever experienced. This work was commissioned by Amherst Regional High School and Brian Messier.
May 30: In Wesley United Methodist Church in Hadley MA at a concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Hampshire Young People's Chorus, conductor KC Conlan led the choir in a heart-warming and accomplished performance of Pusi Nofo from Two Samoan Folksongs.
May 20: At Colorado State University, Fort Collins CO, Eric Hawk on viola played Elegy as part of his Master's degree recital to a very positive response from jury and audience.
May 14: Thursday, at 12:30 Center City Chorale, directed by David Schelat, sang Sau La'u Teine Samoa, and Minoi, Minoi from Songs of Samoa.
May 8: At 4pm in the Grand Concert Hall of Hénán Provincial Center of Art in Zhengzhou, Luke Chih directed the Hénán Symphony Orchestra in the China premiere of Hikurangi Sunrise - a warmly received performance.

May 7: AMIS Middle School Honors Choir, directed by Keith Montgomery, will perform the world premiere of To Hear An Oriole Sing, (a work commissioned by AMIS) in the American International School in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

April 27: At 8:00 pm at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus in Indiana, PA, the IUP Wind Ensemble directed by Jack Stamp with Sarah Hager as piano soloist performed the second movement of Renascence - described as the highlight of the concert. The IUP WE was one of 36 groups that commissioned this work.   Top
April 26: Sunday, 5.00pm in the Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber, John Rosser directed Viva Voce choir with Yvette Audain on alto saxophone in the overwhelmingly successful New Zealand premiere of High Flight. This work was commissioned by The Orlando Chorale in honour of John Perkins.
April 25: At 8:00pm in Bailey Hall, Cornell University Tim Reynish directed the university's wind ensemble in a well received performance of L'homme armé: Variations. This work was commissioned by Timothy and Hilary Reynish in memory of their son William.
April 18: At 3:30 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall Auditorium the Virginia Glee Club along with alumni gave a very successful world premiere of Four Virginia Student Songs. These arrangements, commissioned by the Virginia Glee Club will be released on CD in the fall.
March 27: At 8pm in St. Paul's Cathedral on Symond St., Auckland, New Zealand, the choir of Aorere College directed by Douglas Nyce performed Pusi Nofo from Songs of Samoa at the AUT Chancellor's Dinner.

March 7-14: Between these dates, at various venues around Lille in France, the Juniata College Concert Choir directed by Russell Shelley performed La'u Lupe from Songs of Samoa. The first of these performances was a French premiere for this song.

February 27: In the Visual Arts auditorium of the University of Central Florida, as part of the College Music Society 2009 conference, UCF professor Gail Robertson on euphonium with Stacy Baker from Morehead University on tuba gave a fine Florida premiere to Eola Stroll, a work they commissioned in 2008.
February 16: At 7.30pm in Benoit Glazer's "White House" in Orlando, Richard Greenwood directed the Orlando Chamber Players in the well received world premiere of two movements from Raptures commissioned by UCF as a tribute to Guy Woolfenden. Also the world premiere of the first of the Dickinson Miniatures Charles Édouard Glazer on violin, Camille Glazer on viola, and Jean-Marie Glazer on cello. This work was written for them. Top
