Aue!

Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band: 1 Picc. 2 Fl. 2 Ob. 1 Eb Cl.  2 Bb Cl. 1 B.Cl. 2 Alt.Sax. 1 Ten.Sax. 1 Bar.Sax. 2 Bsn. 4 Hn. (F) 3 Tpt. (B flat) 3 Tbn. 1 Euph. 1 Tba. Timp. 3 Perc.

Warm, atmospheric and exciting music with a Samoan theme at its heart. Commissioned by an international consortium of wind ensemble directors through an initiative of Tim Reynish, President of the WASBE.

Premiere: Chethams Wind Orchestra, Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, April 7.

"After working on the piece during the two day festival, the students and the audience were very receptive. I appreciate the Ivesian concept of layering ideas and the unpredictability of the sequencing of ideas as well. Textures, especially the more transparent, are welcome. The ending, with the tam-tam note, takes what promises to be a predictable gung-ho, and very conclusive, ending and gives it a marvelous irony (to my ear)." (Prof. Charles Peltz, New England Conservatory, March 3, 2002). Published by Maecenas Music (UK). Duration: ±6.5".
