Minoi, Minoi

I have recordings of three of the four versions here:

1) From Songs of Samoa (SATB): this performance is by the Tower New Zealand Youth Choir directed by Karen Grylls from the 1993 CD titled 'On Tour: North America 1993'. You may purchase it from the choir's website above.

2) From Samoa Sings (SSAA version): this performance is by the San Francisco Girls Chorus directed by Magen Solomon from a concert recorded in 2001.

3) From Two Samoan Folksongs (SA and piano). A performance by the Hampshire Choral Society's Young People's Chorus conducted by K.C. Conlan.

Minoi, Minoi

Minoi, minoi, minoi pei o se loi
A sivasiva 'ua gaoioi,
Lololo fa'ape'epe'e 'ua loiloi,
Suiti suamalie pei o se poi.

Aue! La'u lupe, lupe,
Tagitagi aue!
O lo'o loto lea, tauina fa'apea,
Tauina fa'apelepele,
Minoi, minoi e!
Minoi, minoi ane,
Minoia la'u pele.

Move, Move

Move, move, move like an ant
Swaying when you dance,
Dipping into rich coconut cream,
As sweet as banana pudding.

Ah, my pigeon, (my dearest)
Crying out to me!
I hope we can keep on like this,
Keep on being sweethearts,
So move, move! Move, move,
Move my darling.
